fall behind - mieć zaległości
I'm really stressed out when I fall behind with my work.

catch up on - nadrabiać (zaległości)

take in (information) - przyswajać (informacje)
It's sometimes difficult for students to take in infrmation in a lesson.

feel out of your depth - całkowicie się pogubić
Tom felt totally out of his depth in Maths and couldn't undestand the topic.

This exam was a piece of cake.


burn the midnight oil - pracować do późna w nocy
Anna is a night owl and often burns the midnight oil.

know something inside out - znać coś na wylot
He is an expert and knows this subject inside out.

pass (an exam) with flying colours - zdać (egzamin) śpiewająco
It was the most difficult exam but she passed it with flying colours.

There is no place like home!

It's true. Home is not only a place where I come back from work, eat and sleep but first of all the place where I feel safe, relax, look after the loved ones. It's my refuge where I can genuinely be myself. It can be the ugliest and most boring place to others but to me - it's the centre of my being.

To prawda. Dom jest nie tylko miejscem, do którego wracam po pracy, jem, spię, ale przede wszystkim miejscem, gdzie czuję się bezpieczna, odpoczywam, dbam o tych, których kocham.  To moje schronienie, gdzie rzeczywiście mogę być sobą. To miejsce może innym wydawać się brzydkie i nudne, ale dla mnie - to centrum mojego życia.

move house - przeprowadzać się
My brother found a new job and had to move house.
